Realistic Goals

Okay, Jeni Whitesides and I went to the City Council meeting this past Wednesday. This is what we found out:

1. The City Council is not in charge of the planning of the aquatic park. That lies with the Urban Renewal District.

2. The fact that we have such huge swings in temperature is what makes an indoor facility more expensive to maintain.

3. The URD is not going to change their minds and make the park an indoor pool instead.

4. What we CAN do is talk to who is planning things and convince them to change the catch pool from the slides from 3 to 6 lanes and get a 'bubble' to put over top for when the weather is bad.

My angle to get them to do this is to tell them about the UltraViolet Ozonators and money/energy saving pool pumps that may help offset the cost of getting the bubble. Also, if I can still prove to them that it can be used and maintained and will be paid for in admission costs, then I think we may still be able to get what we want. Jeni is contacting the man in charge about the lane expansion.

If you have a Facebook account, then please find the Rexburg indoor pool on that site also.

Pool Questionnaire for Indoor Pool/Aquatic Park

I will very soon need volunteers to help take around a very short questionnaire about what the citizens of Rexburg want more: an outdoor aquatic park or a very simple indoor pool. I want honest, objective and realistic answers from all participants.

I need volunteers to take these questionnaires around their own neighborhoods and collect them the next day. I will pick them up from you and verify answers with the participants. Please leave a comment if you are willing to volunteer.

Please keep in mind that I only know my own opinion and the opinions of those with whom I have already spoken to. I AM ONLY TRYING TO ACCESS THE OPINIONS OF THE CITIZENS OF REXBURG. I WILL HONESTLY REPORT ALL ANSWERS I RECEIVE TO THE CITY COUNCIL.
Thank you!
